Hosting Ceremony of Sustainable Development Solutions Network in Afghanistan (SDSN Afghanistan)

On July 21, Kateb University (KU) the host institute of SDSN Afghanistan celebrated achieving the hosting position of the network. The half day ceremony was attended by Mr. Ali Ahmad Yousefi chair of SDSN Afghanistan and chancellor of KU, Mr. Zia Shefaie co-chair of SDSN Afghanistan and vice chancellor of KU, Mr. Wali Farhat network manager of SDSN Afghanistan and development and strategic communications advisor of KU, and other members of SDG committee including director of KU research unit, and director of KU quality assurance unit, and KU faculty.

At the beginning of the ceremony Mr. Wali Farhat delivered an introduction on SDSN Afghanistan and it’s three main programs which are: a. Awareness and Engagement with the aim of enhancing awareness and collaboration of institutions, public and private sector, and community, b. Teach Afghanistan with the aim of improving access to education and providing education on SDGs, and c. providing solutions for A-SDGs with the aim of providing technological and tools support, creating mechanism for data management, monitoring and reporting.

The ceremony continued with a presentation and discussion on pilot of “our university and SDGs- a rapid self-assessment for learning project” by assessment expert Mr. Abdullah Alemi.  He explained the three-stage process (assessment and planning, capacity building, and impact evaluation) to engage and build the capacity of Kateb University for a more effective role in achieving Afghanistan’s sustainable development goals.
