On April 22 2021, Times Higher Education Impact Rankings announced the list of world’s ranked higher education institutions against the Sustainable Development Goals. Kateb University, the host institution of SDSN Afghanistan, and Kardan University, a member institution of SDSN Afghanistan, was ranked the 601-800th influential universities, representing Afghanistan, globally.
Following hosting the Afghanistan Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN Afghanistan) commits itself to advancement the work of sustainable development across Afghan Universities. As part of this commitment, Kateb University participated the THE Impact Rankings 2021 despite the already existing challenges such as insecurity and COVID-19 in Afghanistan. In addition, Kardan University, one of the active member institutions of SDSN Afghanistan, had participated for the second time in this world ranking.
Universities selected four goals out of seventeen goals of the Sustainable Development Goals that cover their areas of operation within and beyond the university campus. Kateb University was ranked 101-200th for the SDG 1: No poverty, 401-600th for the SDG3: Good Health and Well-Being, 301-400th for the SDG4: Quality Education, and 601-800th for the SDG17: Partnership for Goals.
Whereas, Kardan University was ranked 101-200th for the SDG 1: No poverty, 401-600th for the SDG4: Quality Education, 301-400th for the SDG8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and 401-600th for the SDG17: Partnership for Goals.
The ranking will offer the universities the opportunity to reflect on and improve their world for sustainable development and learn from other top positions universities that leads with sustainability in the listing.
